Clinical Trial of Tranilast on Atopic Dermatitis

Abstract
|
|
|
The effect of anti-allergic drug Tranilast on 30 patient of atopic dermatitis who visited the Dept. of Dermatology, Ewha Womans University Hospital was investigated by detailed physical examination, analysis of history and laboratory findings.
Tranilast, 5mg per leg of body weight, had been given orally every day for 4 weeks.
The effectiveness of Tranilast was judged with clinical improvement of patients and the results are summarized as follows;
1) Tranilast was effective in 17 out of 30 patients (56. 7%).
2) Tranilast was more effective in mild to moderately severe atopic dermatitis than severe.
3) During the observation period, none of the patients revealed side reaction from Tranilast.
